The Louisana Department of Education offers both Basic Rider Courses and Advanced Rider Courses.
 
     The Basic Rider Course is a 15 hour course designed for the beginning motorcycle operator with emphasis on the special skills and mental attitude necessary for the navigation and safety in traffic. This class is both classroom and hands on riding.
 
     The Advanced Rider Course is a 5 hour course designed for the motorcyclist who wants to home in on their mental and physical skills. The course involves cornering, braking and evasive maneuvering techniques.
